Yankees at Cleveland, game four!

April 28, 2008

Line up for tonight:

Cabrera CF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez DH
Giambi 1B
Matsui LF
Ensberg 3B
Cano 2B
Molina C

A-Rod’s sore quad will keep him in the DH slot as the temperature is below 50 in Cleveland, Ensberg will play third. Damon gets his rest, and Molina takes the dish and the nine slot.

Cabrera leads off with a base on balls. Its important to note that Aaron Laffey, opposing LHP, has never faced the Yankees and has made only a handful of major league starts. The lead off walk is followed up with an error by second baseman Carroll that killed a possible double play and Jeter is in safely at first, Cabrera in at second. Abreu flies to deep center, Cabrera tags up to third for A-Rod. Foul pop up towards the stands stays in play and he’s the second out. Giambi has come back out of his slump a bit in the past few days with a pair of round trippers this series so far. He rockets it… but caught at the right field track. No damage, Moose takes the hill after this!

Mikey’s 39 years old and its cold outside, so let’s see how tonight goes. He faces David Dellucci to start things off. He gets him to fly out to right. Next up, Carroll… fly out right as well. Hafner in to face Moose now. Hafner’s having a bad start this year, and it continues as he watches strike three sail on the inside corner.

Matsui up to face the youngster Laffey – chopper up the middle but picked off by Laffey and tossed to first, one away. Ensberg next… inside pitch popped to second, two down. Cano’s bat hasn’t heated up yet this season, and this AB isn’t changing that. Hard hit but short to left field, third out, side retired.

Moose on the mound against the catcher Victor Martinez. Martinez is spanking the ball at a .344 clip this season but has struggled against Moose. He can’t break the cycle this time as he flies to right, deep right though it were. Jhonny (sic?) Peralta in now – he gets himself an infield hit as Jeter fields it but can’t fire it to first after lunging to make the grab. Luckily, Garko hits a ball with “Double Play” written all over it and the inning goes down.

Yankees fail to get a ball out of the infield with two ground outs to short and one to third in the top of the third.

Moose gets into a bit of a jam here in the bottom half – error by Jeter at short, single to center, and sac bunt gets runners to second and third with only one out. Moose gets Dellucci to strike out, Carroll battles off about 13 minutes worth of good pitches before grounding an outside pitch to first. Giambi bobbles and scares me, but the quick toss to the charging Moose gets the out and ends the threat. Three down no score!

Nothing to see in the top of the fourth. Laffey’s blazing through the line-up like a knife through buttah.

Moose is dueling well but throwing quite a few pitches. He gets Hafner to fly out but gives up a single to Martinez. Another fly out by Perralta and a ground out by Garko and even though Martinez moved into scoring position on a passed ball, he can’t make it home. Still naught-naught, top fifth comin’ up!

Matsui grounds out, Ensburg strikes out, but Cano gets beaned to give the Yankees their first runner since the first. Molina can’t do anything other than ground out, though and Laffey’s got a no hitter going through 5…

Moose hasn’t been slouching on the hill himself. His last outing was as solid as they come with 7 IP and only 2 ER. He gives up a single to Blake, then a single to Gutierrez moves him to third with none away. Single up the right side, just past Giambi, and the score is now 1-0 Indians. Gutierrez moves to second, still no outs. Another frackin’ base hit, but Gutierrez holds up at third to load up the bases, still zero outs, Carroll coming to the plate. Scratch what I was saying at the top of this paragraph… Eiland comes to visit the Moose, Albaladejo warming in the pen, Girardi standing at the top of the steps. Carroll pops quickly to first, one away and a double play ends the threat. Hafner in with the sacks packed… He’s hit 9 grand slams in his career so far. He doesn’t hit it out of the park, but he gets it far enough to knock in Gutierrez, 2-0 Indians, two away. Moose gives up a walk to the hot hitting Martinez to load ‘em up again. Albaladejo still up in the pen… Line out to short by Perralta, inning over, threat gone but not before two runs score.

Cabrera leads off the sixth with an infield single to bust up the no-no by Laffey. He didn’t really knock the crap out of it, but it was enough. Jeter grounds one to third but Blake has to run up on it and throws from the ground skipping it to first. Jeet beats the throw, two on, none away. Laffey’s still getting the ground balls but the last two have just been bad luck for him. Abreu lines a single to left field and now the Yankees have loaded ‘em up with no outs to bring up A-Rod. The Cleveland pen is showing signs of life now as well. How about a nice grand slam here to put us ahead, eh $275 million man? OUCH… beaned in the vicinity of the groin… Run forced in, which means I don’t think it was intentional. Pitching coach will trot out to try to calm down the unraveling youngster. Giambi will step in with Matsui on deck. Slow bouncer to first puts away the G-man but scores Jeter and the ball game is tied! Go-go-Godzilla in with two in scoring position and one away. Another grounder to first, another infield RBI as the Yankees take the lead! Laffey will take a seat now after giving up the lead.

Jensen Lewis takes over for Laffey to face Ensberg. Another infield hit scores A-Rod from third and the Yankees now lead 4-2. Lewis tried to bare hand the ball but didn’t get a good grab on it as Ensberg flies head first in safe! Cano can’t keep the big inning alive as he grounds to second. Bottom half upcoming!

Albaladejo is a name that rolls off of the tongue, but it doesn’t roll off of the keyboard. I mistyped that one like three times right there. He gets a ground out from Garko to third for the first out. Walk to Blake but a pop out to Gutierrez, two away. Micheals singles into the gap in short right to put two on for Dellucci. The announcers have mentioned many times that Grady Sizemore’s injury is having an effect, so let’s see how this AB pans out as Dellucci is in Sizemore’s lead-off slot. 0-2 plus a few fouls offs before a swing and a miss and the inning is over, no runs, still 4-2 Yankees!

Lewis still on the mound for the Tribe, Molina and Cabrera both fly out. jeter comes in and lines a base hit to right – but its caught! Incredible lay out by Jason Micheals to snag that one! Damn, but that was pretty. Nothin’ doin’ this half…

Farnsworth in now, still waiting to hear about that suspension. Ground out and strike out puts the first two away, but Kyle falls to 3-0 against Martinez. He gets him to fly out, one-two-three for Kyle Withakay.

Abreu strikes out to start the top of the 8th and Joba is warming in the pen. Damon bats for A-Rod – is the quad still bothering him? He did get beaned in the leg and run all the bases for a run… Wow, Lewis’s windup is incredibly quick. Quickly walks Damon, he does, to bring up Giambi. He hits a fly into right field, Damon stays put at first. Looked like he was seriously considering taking second and could have moved to third… Didn’t pan out though, and Matsui steps in. Base hit all the way to the wall in right center, Matsui takes second, Damon takes home plate and its now 5-2! Guess all that talk of stealing doesn’t matter… Pitching change will occur, as will a break in the blogging action!

Julio gets a towering pop out from Ensberg, three gone, top half over, Joba coming up in the bottom? Find out after this!

Jobamania takes the hill and we get an interview about midges. Apparently, midges are repelled by vinegar. Ground out, high flying pop-out, and strike out takes care of the Indians in the bottom of the 8th. I’m fading fast here after a loooooooong weekend, so let’s hope for a quick ninth so I can get some sleep!

Liner, popper, and swinging strike out sends the Yankees back to the field behind Mo.

Mo has still yet to give up a walk or a run this year.  The Yankees will finally head home after this game for nine games in ten days.  Strike out for Gutierrez.  Fly out for Micheals.  Ground out to second, game over!  Yankees win!  Theeeeeeee Yankees win!

I go pass out now.  Good night!

Back for the Attack!

April 28, 2008

Well, after a bit of a break as I was traveling for work (an unable to see every game… shucks) I have returned!  Not much time to catch you all up, so I really have to direct you to any of the blogs on my roll off to the right…  However, there are a few things that need to be mentioned:

Departures:  Both Brian Bruney and Jorge Posada are on the DL.  Bruney tore a ligament in his foot and will require surgery.  Jorgie’s shoulder isn’t healing the way it should…  He’s had an MRI, but it doesn’t show the reason he’s still ailing.  He’s arrived in Birmingham, AL for more tests today, and the Yankees will start without him on the roster for the first time 1996.  We’ll miss you, Jorgie – get well soon!

Arrivals:  With Moeller having been designated for assignment and not yet clearing waivers, Chris Stewart got the call to back up Molina.  He’s only played in 23 major league games, so he’s clearly untested, but let’s hope the luck we’ve had with back-ups carries on.  Jon Albaladejo, Chris Britton, and Shelley Duncan have joined him on the roster to fill up the team.

What I’ve missed:  Too much to list, but let’s go hope last nights 1-0 victory in a pitchers’ duel between Sabathia and Wang gives us the momentum needed to fight off the tribe tonight!

That’s better!

April 21, 2008

This is Stormrider6, checking in from Topeka, KS! Hopefully y’all are enjoying the victory more than I’m enjoying being in Topeka, KS…

Didn’t catch the game as I had to catch a flight instead. Here’s what I’ve gleaned from Yahoo! sports:

4th inning – a walk, stolen base, and a pair of doubles scores two! That’s some good stuff! A-Rod finally gets a hit with a runner in scoring position! Matsui carries on his rockin’ season – good work, you guys.

Top 6: A-Rod reaches on a fielder’s choice and… gets pulled for a pinch runner. Looks like he has a sore quad, a lot like Jeter had when he missed 6 games. Asked whether he would miss a few days, Alex said “Maybe. We’ll see how I wake up in the morning.” I hate to see a good player injured, doubly so if he’s a Yankee, but hopefully this will coincide with the birth of another child so he can spend some quality family time as well as recover.

Top 7th: Moeller doubles! I love this guy! Damon homers him home for another two runs – good job, Johnny. Keep it up, please.

Bottom 8th: Joba comes in, gives up a single and a double with no outs, and GI Joe sits him down. He doesn’t get a chance to pitch out of a jam? (EDIT:  Ohhhh… rain delay…) Bruney comes in and gives up one on a sac fly but sets the next two down without a run.

Top 9th: Walk (Melky), single (Moeller!), walk (Damon), and a 3 RBI double by Cap’n Jeet! That’s the way you seal up a ballgame!

Bottom 9th: Mariano Rivera. That is all that needs to be said.

Final score, 7-1 Yankees. Cano got a hit to bring his average up to .169, Giambi grounded into a double play and got no hits to drop his average to .109. Seriously, let’s healthy up Posada and keep Moeller or Molina on as DH instead. Oh, naturally, bring back Shelley for 1B. Or trade Betemit for Meinkeizivawerjsetch. Somebody, anybody, play first base. Melky was the only other starter without a base hit but he got a run on a walk. Damon was 2-4 with a BB to go with his 2 RBI dinger – keep it up.

Pettitte pitched 7, then Joba-Bruney-Mo closed the game out. Good rest for (most of) the bullpen. Andy, you da man.

No desk jockeying for me this week, so don’t expect another update for a while. Yankees have (gasp!) a day off tomorrow, then Wang takes the hill on Tuesday in Chicago! Till then, Rock on!

I hate losing.

April 20, 2008

Argh.  Last night’s game was an abomination before God – its a good thing they left the stadium so the Pope himself didn’t have to witness it.  Kennedy didn’t throw strikes (Hughes threw strikes in his last start, good boy) and walked 5 hitters in three frackin’ innings.  When you walk people, they don’t get out and you have to throw more pitches!  That’s why you got yanked in the third inning!

Argh.

Hitters?  What hitters?  You guys go shut out by Brian Burres (6-8, 5.95 ERA in 2007) and NASCAR driver Jimmy Johnson for God’s sake!  How can you get a single, a walk, and a triple in one inning AND NOT SCORE?

Jorge, A-Rod:  What’s up with leaving RISP?

Johnny:  Two strikeouts and your average has now plummeted below .200 – fine job leading off you’re doing!

Robbie:  What is the deal with not hitting?  I see you at the plate – for every good AB where you take pitches and eventually hit one well (usually you wind up getting robbed), you have two where you hack away at every frackin’ pitch!

Jason:  I hope you enjoyed the bench, because once Jorge’s healthy we may use Chad Moeller or Jose Molina as the DH the way you’re hitting.

ARGH!

Billy (Traber), Rossy (Ohlendorf), Joba-y…  Keep doin’ what you’re doin’.  Fine job.  Melky, nice catch.  Godzilla, Bobby, Cap’n, sorry you had to see that.  You guys wanna go grab a drink?  I am thirsty…  Oh yeah, how soon can we get Shelley on a flight from Scranton?

[I needed to get that off my chest.  I'm hittin' the road today, so I won't catch today's game, but I'll update you all from the booming metropoli of Topeka and Wichita as I'm able.]

Game two, Yanks at Orioles

April 19, 2008

I’m trying to wrap my head around this line-up… GI Joe is 19 for 19 at starting the game with different line-ups.

Damon LF
Cabrera CF
Jeter SS
Rodriguez DH
Posada 1B
Matsui RF
Ensberg 3B
Cano 2B
Molina C

The one at PeteAbe’s site had some typos, so I stole this from Larry at Replacement Level Yankees Weblog. Abreu and Giambi both get to start the game on the bench eatin’ sunflower seeds and BS-ing with the coaches and other pine-jockies. Good to see Molina behind the plate, though having him batting 9th almost doesn’t make sense considering he’s got a 9 game hitting streak in games he’s started.

Don’t hold out a lot of hope for live blogging as I’m still fiddling with my desktop to try and get it running at max performance. I’ll keep you updated on the important stuff, though.

Top o’ the first: Screwy start for the Yanks as Damon drew a walk but Melky lined one right to shortstop. Damon hustled back to the bag to beat the throw but tripped, fell off the bag, and was tagged out… Jeter followed with a three-bagger, A-Rod got an infield single to the pitcher but couldn’t score Jeter, then Posada grounded to short to end the inning.

Bottom half: Kennedy got into trouble (as he is wont to do in the first inning) by loading the bases on a single and two walks, but Melky bailed him out with a great catch in center to end the threat.

Bottom 2nd: Orioles score after a pair of one-out doubles, the second one up the line past Posada. Kennedy got a nice pick-off at second, but Roberts (who walked) stole second on a bad throw by Molina. Kennedy gets a strike out to end the inning. Kennedy’s throw 60 pitches through two innings.

Bottom 3rd: Kennedy gets a quick K but Millar’s solo homer makes it 2-0 Orioles. Two walks, pop out, and two RBI double later and it is 4-0 O’s. Girardi lifts IPK, Ohlendorf comes in. Frackitall.

Ohlendorf’s line looks like 3.1 IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, 3Ks. Good outing but he got gassed at the end. Traber in relief now.

Traber pitched one inning and allowed a hit and a walk but no runs. Nice outing for Billy. Jobamania will take over in the bottom of the 8th.

First pitch from Joba: 98 mph and swing and a miss. Welcome back! Strike out swining, then ground out off of Joba’s foot (ouch, but nice play) before giving up a walk. Another strike out, inning over.

End of game: 6-0 Orioles.  Seriously, you can’t even score ONE *&^%$$@#$#% RUN?  Have you ever been in a relationship where the other person was just taking advantage of your forgiveness?  Welcome to 2008 Yankees baseball.

Farnsworth suspended, appeals

April 19, 2008

MLB wasn’t too pleased with Kyle playfully tossing a ball in the direction of Manny in Thursday’s game it appears… He’s being suspended for three games but has appealed through the players’ union meaning he won’t start serving until the appeal is heard.  Not Farnsey’s first trip to the penalty box as he’s been suspended thrice prior to this, twice for brawling.

I’m all for sending a message, but don’t aim for the head, especially when you can throw 98 miles per hour.  Just read Ron Luciano’s story in The Umpire Strikes Back about Paul Blair lying unconscious and bleeding from the nose, mouth, and ears after getting hit below the helmet with a fastball.  It ain’t pretty and it has no place in baseball.  Next time, please just bean him in the back.

If this suspension were actually to start tonight, it could be ugly.  The bullpen has been taxed to the max the last two night and if Kennedy has another rough start it could be three in a row.  As much as he’s been unpredictable, we need him to eat up some innings.  Bruney and Ohlendorf can’t do it all by themselves.

As always, thanks to PeteAbe for reporting this.

Ugly, but not the end.

April 19, 2008

So the Yanks fell to the Orioles last night 8-2.  I watched most of it but the week just caught up with me and I passed out just as Edwar took the mound.  Hughes was very good through 5 innings but got into a jam at the end and Joe told him to take a seat.  The bullpen has been quite good at keeping the games within reach, but Hawkins decided not to pitch well against his former team instead.  So, Edwar Ramirez ascended to the hill and told the Birds to sit down and shut up, tossing 2.1 innings and giving up only one hit (RBI single against the first batter) and one walk.  Hughes was charged with 5 earned runs over 6 innings, dropping his ERA slightly.  Hawkins was charged with the other three after going five straight outings without giving up one.

As far as the offense, it was a one man show.  Not A-Rod, not Jeter, not even Damon, Abreu, Giambi, Posada, Matsui, Cano, or Cabrera…  It was third string backup catcher Chad Moeller who batted in both of the Yankees’ runs.  Maybe if we could have 9 back-up catchers in the lineup we’d have won, but alas, it is difficult to pull that off.  Daniel Cabrera threw a good game and only gave up two runs through 6+, the last being a solo shot by Moeller.

The defense wasn’t perfect by a long shot, either.  Giambi missed a sharp grounder hit almost right to him to allow a single that didn’t score, and A-Rod’s throw to first in the 6th was about ten feet wide.  There wasn’t going to be an out on the play, but Jones did get second base on the throw, setting up an intentional walk and three RBI on two singles.

Hughes was better tonight than his line shows – he threw first pitch strikes almost all the time, got his curve in the strike zone, fooled ‘em with the slider and change, and generally did a good job.  He wasn’t throwing poorly when he got yanked, either, but he was getting hit.  Much better than his last two, but still not as good as his first.  My guess is he’ll be up and down throughout the rest of the season as he’s learning the hitters and the hitters are learning him.  He will probably have a few more flashes of brilliance, but he’ll also have flashes of crapulence.  I think by the end of the season he’ll be a lot closer to being the pitcher he can be, but I’ll be content to ride the storm out until then.  The same thing goes for Kennedy, though I think he will either get there either much faster or much slower because he’s a precision pitcher.  Once he starts spotting his pitches like he will be able to he will be rokken like Dokken.  Or something like that.  Will it happen tonight?  We’ll just have to watch and see!

Red Cross Medical Watch:  Posada is ticked at always being asked when he’ll be ready to catch again, so I’ll be sure to just ask him “How ’bout them Knicks” when I see him.  He’s still not likely to sit behind the dish tonight.  Harlan Chamberlain is doing much better, breathing on his own and sitting up.  Joba will return to the Yankees tonight.  I hope for his sake that’s the right decision.  I know I would have a hard time leaving my father if he were still in the hospital.  Let’s home we can welcome Joba back with a nice 7 inning outing by Kennedy followed by our favorite Joba-Mo-Let’s Go 8th and 9th.  Joba did throw twice while in Nebraska to keep his arm ready.

Mike Mussina White Board Watch:  “No cookies and no ice cream make Moose a dull pitcher”

Yankees at Bawmer! Game one!

April 18, 2008

Sorry for the lack of updates – work was a beast today and I’m getting ready to go away on business, so that didn’t help. I’ll try to keep up on the games while I’m in Kansas, but no promises.

Here’s the line up for tonight!

Damon LF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez 3B
Matsui DH
Cano 2B
Giambi 1B
Cabrera CF
Moeller C

Phil Hughes will face off against Daniel Cabrera. Yankees have beaten up Cabrera in the past, let’s hope it carries on as the quest continues!

Damon flies to center to start the game off. Jeter comes in on a 4 game hitting streak but he grounds to third. Abreu is .302 coming in to this game with 10 RBI. Abreu takes 5 pitches before a grounder to short and reaching on an infield single. Dig it out, Bobby! Scratch that, it was charged as an error on the shortstop Hernandez. A-Rod goes down swinging…

The Phranchise takes the mound and gets an out on a pitch to Roberts, who I thought for sure would have been traded away by now. Melvin Mora grounds right past Hughes but Jeter moves quickly to his left and gets the out. 3-1 pitch goes past Markakis for a walk, but Millar pops out to Moeller for the third out.

Matsui gets pegged on the elbow right away to start the second inning. Cano steps in and takes the count full (‘atta boy, patience) before fouling off a bad pitch, then another, then a beautifully hit line drive up the middle! Unfortunately, its caught by the shortstop and Matsui is tagged out for the double play. Giambi grounds out hard to first and Hughes will take the hill again after the break.

Hughes faces Luke Scott, gets ahead 0-2, falls behind 3-2, then gets Scott to fly out to Bobby in right. Another full count to Huff this time but this time he lets him walk. Hughes gets ahead of Jones 0-2 (Cano tossed a foul that dropped to a fan in a Yankee shirt – Go Robbie) before he takes him up the ladder and strikes him out swinging! Ramon Hernandez comes in with a runner on first and two away. R-Hern has gotten off to a slow start this season, hitting only .152 this season. Hughes gets ahead again 0-2 but gets beat for a single to left. Huff stops at second and Luis Hernandez steps in. Announcer A calls Announcer B “easy.” L-Hern flies out to Melky, two left on and the inning’s over.

Turnabout is fair play, so Melky grounds to L-Hern for the inning’s first out. Moeller fouls out to third. Damon flies out to left, Yanks go down 1-2-3.

Roberts lines to left, Mora flies to right, but Markakis skips one past Giambi and busts on to second as Abreu can’t get the ball to second in time. Score that one an E3… Damn. Hughes again ahead 0-2 with Millar before he flies out to right to end the inning.

Jeter grounds out but Abreu gets aboard with a single. A-Rod moves him over with a ground out of his own before Matsui gets a base hit! Abreu hauls around to try to score but Markakis cuts him down at the plate on a great throw! Damn.

Hughes gives up a run on a double, single, and an RBI GIDP by Scott, Huff, and Jones. R-Hern flies out to left, inning over. Hughes has gotten ahead of about every batter he’s faced so far.

Cano hits to start off the inning, but Giambi doesn’t (strike out). Cabrera hits a long drive to right, off the wall, for a double – Cano holds at third after Abreu got gunned down last inning. Moeller hits one to third – Mora boots it! Cano scores, Moeller reaches, Melky stays at second, only one down for Damon. He reaches on a fielder’s choice which is more of a double play that L-Hern can’t turn. Melky to third, Damon to first for Jeter. He gets jammed inside and grounds to third to end the inning. Tie ball game!

Hughes gets into some trouble after a hit and a ground out puts L-Hern at second, but Moeller gets him out of it by gunning down L-Hern at third when he tried to take third on a passed ball that didn’t pass far. Fly out, half over, still tied!

Yankees make some threats but can’t put any more runs up as Melky strikes out with the bases loaded to end the top of the 6th.

Orioles score another pair off of Hughes after giving up four singles and recording only one out in the bottom half. He gets to take a seat in favor of LaTroy Hawkins after that last one and the Orioles lead 3-1. Hawkins walks R-Hern intentionally to load up the bases so he can give up a two RBI base hit to pinch hitter Payton and leave runners at the corners. Roberts grounds back to Hawkins, R-Hern can’t score. Edwar Ramirez was called up today to replace Albaladejo since Edwar is rested and Albie’s tired. Ball in the dirt allows Payton to take second, Edwar’s up in the pen. Frackin’ Mora hits one to right for two RBI and he’s left standing on second. That’ll do it for LaTroy in favor of Edwar…

Wow, that went badly.  I apologize, but I was A) Bummed and B) Bushed so I C) fell asleep at the wheel.  Or couch.  Back later with updates!

No nothin’ for tonight…

April 18, 2008

Sorry for the lack of updates – work and other stuff caught up to me and I missed all but the 8th and 9th tonight, and I simply didn’t have the energy to try to recap and blog it all up.  Bottom line, loss for Yanks 7-5, poor outing by Moose (thanks mostly to Manny), some damage to Albaladejo, and scoreless the rest of the way.  Yanks got three off of Beckett and two more off of Papelbon – good work to get that much.

I love you, Moose, for all that you’ve done, but its time to put you in the #4 or #5 slot so you’re not facing an ace like Beckett.  Check back tomorrow for some road trip previews as the Yankees and I are headed out for a stretch on the road!

Holy offense, Batman!

April 17, 2008

I thought football season was over!  Last night the Yankees scored two touchdowns and a two-point conversion while holding the Red Sox to just three field goals for a final score of 15-9.  I am getting ready to head out on business this weekend and am rather busy at work, so I won’t be able to go into as much depth as usual, but here are some highlights:

RBI for everybody except Matsui who was 2-4 with a BB and a run.  Wanger got roughed up for 8 runs, but one bad start out of 4 isn’t a bad deal.  The bullpen locked the Sox down after CMW got the hook, though, and saved the game.  Ohlendorf allowed the only run in 5 innings of relief – Hawkins (W, 1-0), Traber (One pitch vs. Ortiz), and Bruney (1.2 IP, SV) were damn solid.  Hopefully Moose will pitch at least 6 tonight so they can get some rest and maybe just use Albaladejo, Farnsworth (shudder), and Mo for the 7th, 8th, and 9th.

Holy Moeller!  4-10 in three games with 2 walks and an RBI.  Depth at every position has saved the Yankees from falling hard due to injuries.

Joba’s dad is doing better.  Hopefully Joba takes some time to be with him until he’s 100%.  Family is the most important thing.  The Yankees will always be here for him.

RCMW:  Molina and Posada are still improving but still not ready to catch.  Molina is about 60% and can back up if Moeller needs it.
